Our story.
Hi! We’re Deale and Elisa Stanley-Hunt, founders of Slipstream Brewing. When we started the business back in 2017, we wanted a place where we could share our passion for great beer and delicious food with locals, and help take them on a journey of the senses.
Our original home in Yeerongpilly on the south side of Brisbane has become a firm favourite for the community, with countless dinners, lunches, parties, anniversaries and celebrations held over the years, where customers can enjoy fresh and flavourful beers right by the tanks where those beers were made.
Inspired by the greats.
When it comes to our brewing philosophy, we were heavily inspired by a number of trips to the United States where the craft beer scene was in full swing, and iconic breweries were knocking it out of the park with big, bold and flavourful beers unlike anything we’d tasted before. We knew that we had to bring this hop-forward style of brewing back home and welcome our community to a new world of pure flavour.
Our name reflects this approach, as we like to think that we’re ‘surfing the slipstream of the greats’.
Awards & recognition.
The Australian brewing scene has become well established over the last decade, with well over 600 independent craft breweries now operating around the country. As a way to benchmark beer quality and styles, a number of major beer competitions are held each year, including the Royal Queensland Beer Awards, Independent Brewers Awards and the Australian International Beer Awards.
At these events, beers are ‘blind tasted’ by beer experts (without knowledge of the brewery or beer) and assessed according to strict criteria, with only the very best in class being awarded a medal or trophy.
We’re delighted to have won medals for our beers across a number of the country’s biggest competitions, and in 2024 were awarded the Champion Small / Medium Brewery at the Royal Queensland Beer Awards.
Hello, Sunshine Coast!
In 2024, we were thrilled to open a second venue on the Sunshine Coast, which has long been a favourite getaway destination for our family. In the heart of Birtinya, Slipstream Social House gives us an opportunity to share the Slipstream experience with a whole new community, with delicious beer, outstanding food and the very best hospitality.
